Aromatic, not tart scent of orange reaches the nose on top of that. On tasting the excellent Grants family reserve Scotch Whisky it feels round and soft. The connoisseur receives a succulent taste of orange, balanced vanilla as well as an unusual sound of Chamomile tea which can rarely be found in a Scotch. The finish of the Grants family reserve Scotch Whisky is long, dry with slight grassy notes. The Grants family reserve Scotch Whisky is presented in a triangular bottle with a dark red label with the inscription: Grant’s blended Scotch Whisky, the family reserve. The precious bottle is trumped only by the golden bright color of the Whisky. The initial aroma is strong with citrus and a hint of whiskey. The palate again reveals lots of orange character, and a moderate amount of honey. Has a rich, bourbon finish that plays on the tongue and ends with a final touch of honey.

The Macallan treated this 18 Year Old to not just one, but two cask content-types for its maturation, released as part of the Double Cask series! Oloroso sherry was used to season a combination of both American and European oak casks, with the former imparting vanilla nuances while the latter brings that hallmark Macallan spice. Another fantastic sherried single malt from the Speyside distillery!

Tasting Notes

Nose: Dried fruit, ginger and toffee. Rich orange with hints of clove and nutmeg.

Palate: Rich raisin and sultana with notes of caramel, vanilla and ginger, balanced by wood spice and zesty citrus.

Finish: Warm oak spice with ginger, turning to sweet orange.
