The Whisky Maker's Cut expression from Glenrothes' Soleo Collection is completely matured in first-fill sherry seasoned casks, resulting in punchy notes of orange, cinnamon and dried fruit. The whole range is named after the process of sun-drying grapes in preparation for sherry production, hence the particularly heavy focus on sherry throughout the series.Tasting NotesOn the nose, orange oil and blackberry jam, with drying oak in the background. On the palate, juicy sherry, crunchy brown sugar, a touch of boozy red wine, macadamia nuts. Sweet finish, with chocolate and dried fruit.Country: Speyside, ScotlandABV: 48.8%

The standard release of Highland Queen blended Scotch whisky, named after Mary Queen of Scots. Like much of the range, it offers very good value for money.

Nose: Some dark honey, caramel, allspice, cooked apples and pear drops.

Palate: Crisp apples now, nougat, more honey, subtle vanilla, perhaps even some tarragon.

Finish: Clean and quite short.

Nose: Honey and heather with thick caramel notes and a subtle nutmeg spice. Dried meadow flowers and a hint of fresh banana.

Palate: Smooth and succulent with a honeyed sweetness that's typical of Johnnie Walker. There's more to this though, the floral elements are quite prominent and there's a spiced sweet vanilla note too.

Finish: Long, sweet and toffee-like.

Overall: A typically easy drinking blend from Johnnie Walker, this will not disappoint fans of the style.

Swing features an elevated amount of Speyside malts, balanced by malts from the northern Highlands and Islay. On the tongue it starts off a bit sweet and then the spicy notes take affect mid-palate which exposes the smoke and peat. It has a smooth lingering smoke and spice finish. The result is a luxurious flavor that's light in the foreground, with sweet mouth-watering depth developing on the palate.

The Macallan treated this 18 Year Old to not just one, but two cask content-types for its maturation, released as part of the Double Cask series! Oloroso sherry was used to season a combination of both American and European oak casks, with the former imparting vanilla nuances while the latter brings that hallmark Macallan spice. Another fantastic sherried single malt from the Speyside distillery!

Tasting Notes

Nose: Dried fruit, ginger and toffee. Rich orange with hints of clove and nutmeg.

Palate: Rich raisin and sultana with notes of caramel, vanilla and ginger, balanced by wood spice and zesty citrus.

Finish: Warm oak spice with ginger, turning to sweet orange.
